TSI supplies coiled control line tubing for downhole, subsea and offshore hydraulic control and chemical-injection applications, engineered for long continuous runs with minimal field connections. Material and pressure design are project-specific — see technical basis below.
Coiled control line tubing is a continuous-length tubing product designed primarily for downhole, subsea and offshore control applications. Its principal distinction is the ability to provide long continuous runs with minimal field connections, making it suitable where access for future intervention is difficult or costly.
Typical applications include hydraulic control of downhole equipment, chemical injection, subsea control systems, umbilicals and remote or satellite well developments. Control lines may be installed downhole, on the seabed or as part of a subsea production system, where the tubing must withstand the mechanical, pressure and environmental conditions associated with installation and long-term service.
Material selection depends on the fluid contained within the control line and the surrounding environment. Stainless steels may be suitable for general applications, while duplex, super duplex and nickel alloys may be selected for higher chloride exposure, seawater, aggressive chemicals or demanding downhole conditions. The material must be considered together with the manufacturing route, surface condition, coating or encapsulation and installation environment.
Control line tubing may be manufactured using seamless or controlled welded-and-drawn processes. Where orbital welding is used to join continuous lengths, each joint becomes an integral part of the pressure boundary and requires appropriate qualification, inspection, documentation and traceability.
Working pressure alone is not sufficient to define control-line integrity. Depending on the installation, working pressure, burst pressure, yield behaviour, external hydrostatic pressure, collapse resistance, temperature, pressure cycling and installation loads may all need to be considered. Deepwater installations are particularly sensitive to external hydrostatic pressure and collapse conditions.
Inspection and testing requirements should be established before installation. Depending on the specification, this may include dimensional inspection, material certification, full-length pressure testing, weld inspection, non-destructive examination, coating or encapsulation inspection and complete joint traceability. The applicable manufacturer’s manufacturing and testing procedures should be followed.
Because control lines can remain inaccessible after installation, reliability is strongly influenced by material selection, manufacturing quality, joint integrity, installation practice and protection against the surrounding environment. Service life should therefore be considered over the complete intended field life rather than only the conditions present during commissioning.
Supply forms may include bare tubing, coated tubing and encapsulated constructions, with packaging and drum arrangements selected according to the installation and handling requirements.
TSI supplies coiled control line tubing for downhole hydraulic control, chemical injection, subsea control systems, umbilicals and remote offshore developments, subject to the specified material, service conditions, manufacturing requirements and installation configuration.
